Maurice Rucker is a singer/songwriter/artist who has been entertaining audiences for over 45 years. From his first days of performing with bands from the streets of Cohoes NY at age 13 to his very successful period in Boston Mass. with his band The Jones Brothers, Maurice has been a constant force of style and talent on stage as well as writing songs and producing some of the most diverse recording.
He was raised between Rensselear NY and Phoenix AZ.., as one of nine children when singing around the house and the Church of God in Christ were the central themes to the family. Every Sunday you could find every member of the family in church either in the choir or the congregation.
At the age of 13, he began singing in local rock bands and by his 20's he was a mainstay in the clubs in Lake George NY where he spent many summers wowing crowds and creating fans
After moving to Boston MA. in 1989, Maurice stopped singing to focus on video production and education. Maurice trained many young people in video production, spent time as a production assistant at a workshop in Rockport Maine, then returned to B0ston to become Education Director for Boston Film and Video Foundation.
In 1999 Maurice started the Jones Brother band, playing a mix of unique covers and eclectic original material . They soon became known as one of the hardest working bands in town, garnering awards, including a nomination at the Boston Music Awards as Best new blues act. In 2000 they released the album "Biography" an album that received critical acclaim, and was included on various top 10 list throughout Ma, and beyond.
After the demise of The Jones Brothers Maurice sang with bands in Rhode Island (Soul Ambition) and Vermont (Soul Giants) , before returning to upstate NY to become one of the founding members of the band Moe Pie.
